VIRTUAL An Epic Year for Cicadas | Tuesday, March 19, 7-8pm

Around a trillion red-eyed flying cicadas will hatch in the U.S. this spring as two adjacent broods emerge from the ground. This double hit of cicadas hasn’t happened since 1803 and Illinois is at the center of the action. Presented by cicada expert Dr. Gene Kritsky, professor emeritus of biology at Mount St. Joseph University.

Join us for a special evening with Ruth E. Carter, two-time Academy Award-winning costume designer. Carter made history as the first Black person to win the Costume Design category, winning an Academy Award for “Black Panther.” She will be joined in conversation by Aisha Harris, co-host of NPR’s “Pop Culture Happy Hour.” Made possible by Illinois Libraries Present.
